Ever do something and then think to yourself “did I really do that?!” I have slowly developed and invested in equipment (mostly from Facebook marketplace and estate sales), and watched videos and failed and tried again. It seems it is easy enough to be ok at throwing pottery, but I’m someone that wants to master crafts. And, I’ll likely always be working towards mastery with ceramics. You’d think that would be daunting, but it’s actually a bit of a relief- I am less likely to get bored and move on to something else. I'm a curious creature, and few things excite me more than trying a new technique or art. I love taking things from their rawest base materials to something beautiful and usable, it feels like magic. What is more raw than clay that someone dug from the ground? I’ve still got so much to learn, but I can see all the hours and intention from the last two years in this picture. This is porcelain, by the way, the bougiest of clays.
